Greetings fellow play therapists!  We know that many of you are navigating the challenging new territory of working-from-home. We have been thinking about you and your clients and wondering what that new territory looks like for you.
As play therapists, one thing that we all have in common is a predisposition for creative and imaginative solutions to life’s challenges.  Working-from-home may be the most unique challenge that we will collectively face in our careers. We’d love to hear what you are doing and also want to share what we are doing.
CBT for kids is our passion, so one thing on our to-do list is creating CBT digital tools that are more interactive. We already have quite a few digital products in our collection, making it easy to print activities to use in the office and to email assignments to use at home.  But, with most therapy taking place at a distance these days, we want to find a way to make those digital tools even more fun, interactive and engaging. We’ve got our thinking caps on!
We usually send out a quarterly newsletter.  But we are going to offer a more frequent newsletter for those who are interested in exchanging ideas about meeting these work-from-home challenges. If you’d like to receive our new–more frequent–newsletter, just hit reply and say Yes.  Please add any information you’d like to share about how you are meeting the new challenges. And also add any questions/requests about tools for distance CBT. We will be in touch soon!

tressometer

Rationale for this activity: The Stressometer can be used to help clients think about the difference between healthy and unhealthy stress. First, the client identifies stressors (challenges, situations, circumstances, habits, relationships) in their lives. Using the stressometer as a visual guide, the client then assesses
where each stressor falls on the healthy-unhealthy stress continuum.  Goal of activity:
With this activity clients:
* learn the difference between healthy and unhealthy stress.
* use the Stressometer as a tool to assess the impact of stress on their lives.
* learn about the role of CB interventions in helping them deal with stress.

Target population: Elementary school and beyond.
Treatment Modality: Individual, family.
Pre-requisite knowledge for counselor or therapist: Some training and expertise in cognitive-behavioral therapy.

 Take Care,    Marcie & Danny
